I can't believe it's been six months already since our first stab at the Bride and Groom Garage Sale! Time flies! Many of you who were now shoppers as brides to be may be married now and ready to sell back your wedding stash. And of course we have a whole new crop of brides to be who need to come and shop at this amazing event.
What is it, you ask? Let me sum it up. Basically we invite recently married couples (or sometimes parents of) to come and set up a table at our sale where they can sell anything and everything left over from a wedding. Last time this included centerpieces, dresses, candles, stationery, fabric, shoes, decorations...you name it! Whatever profit the sellers make from their tables is theirs to keep, so they have a great chance to make back some serious cash!
Then we invite anyone and everyone looking for wedding supplies to come shop the tables. Last time we had a mix of brides, grooms, family members, and friends who came to check it out, and they walked away with some amazing deals letting them stretch their wedding budgets just a little further.
There is NO CHARGE to have a table to sell, and we ask our shoppers for $5 each. ALL PROFITS go to a local charity, and this time we have selected the River Bend Food Bank in Moline.
What's the catch, many think? Believe it or not, there really isn't one. There's no gimmick, no gotcha, no goons waiting to heckle you into anything. It's just an idea we had that seems to benefit everyone involved. Married couples make a little money and clean out their closets. Engaged couples save a little money and get closer to being ready for their big day. Our charity gets a huge wad of cash from us. The Earth gets a big hug because our married couples don't have to throw anything away...we're reusing, reducing, and recycling!
So what do we ask of you, dear QCWeddings.com users? Just to spread the word. Know of someone who has wedding supplies left over? Tell them about the sale. Know of more engaged couples? Tell them about the sale. Want to do something fun with your soon to be inlaws or wedding party? Tell them about the sale!
