Davenport Jaycees Bridal Show is on Jan 26th!

by Jenny Bryde 19. January 2013 01:13

It's Wedding Show Season!!  Wa hoo!  The new year rings in, and we jump right in with some major fun at our favorite bridal show around - the Davenport Jaycees Bridal Show.  It's the biggest of the big with more vendors than you can shake a stick at!  If you've been to bridal shows before this one, then you know how much fun they are and how great of an opportunity they are to gather info and speak with potential wedding vendors.  Bridal shows serve as a one stop shop for your wedding, and whether you're just starting to plan or tying up last minute details, there's something here for you.  If anything, go for the cake samples!!!

QCWeddings.com always has a booth, AND WE SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST STOP because we hand out FREE information labels for you.  You can order your labels in advance or you can come to our booth and give us your info.

WHY DO I NEED LABELS? Because there are hundreds of prizes or information lists that you will want to be included on, and once you've written your name, address, phone, email, and wedding date a dozen or so times, your hand will start to cramp up!  Instead, take one of our labels, and slap it down on the page ready to go, easy peasy!

HOW CAN I PRE-ORDER MY FREE LABELS?  Email Jami at jami@qcweddings.com, and tell her your details - name, date of wedding, phone, address, and email.

Details:  January 26th from 9 to 4 at the River Center in Downtown Davenport.
Admission:  Tickets are $8 if purchased in advance at local Hy-Vees, or $10 at the door.

Check out these amazing prizes being given away this year:
  • $500 gift certificate to use at QC Airport as a raffle
  • $500 gift certificate from Clazzy Designs as a raffle
  • Nearly 100 raffle prizes to be given away from Jaycee booth from vendors
  • More vendors than last year - 150 confirmed right now including several new vendors. (Having an outdoor reception or wedding? We've even got someone with portable sanitation!)
  • Vendors will be in Great Hall and Mississippi Room (a recently updated listing is on www.jcexpo.com under "Planning a Wedding"
  • We also have two new displays we're excited about - this year both the atrium area and a third of the Mississippi Hall will have large displays with dramatic drape or tents in them to show decorating ideas for a reception.
For more information about the expo, you can visit the Jaycees Expo page here, or you can contact Heather Hartley at heartleyheatherm@gmail.com.

We hope to see you there!  Remember to find our booth first so that you can take advantage of our free labels!!

New Wedding Show for Couples - The Brides on a Budget Affordable Bridal Fair

by Jenny Bryde 5. August 2012 00:55

Recently I came across my folder of receipts and notes that I had kept while we planned our wedding in 2010.  As I glanced through each line item, I became increasingly admonished at what I spent on our wedding day.  Yikes!  What seemed like a reasonable amount then would make me leery today.  Let's face it, times are tough right now, and planning a wedding is tricky when you want to make the day special and lovely while at the same time being kind to your pocketbook.  Our vendors are well aware that today's brides and grooms are being smart and careful about their wedding purchases by looking for a good deal with a good quality service, and many of them want to work with couples to find that just right package or service level that comfortably fits into your budget.

Recently some great people at the German American Heritage Center approached us and asked us to help them think of how we could pull of a bridal fair for budget-minded couples.  We sat and brainstormed some really amazing vendors that we knew worked well with couples to find a great deal, and they want all of you to see what they can offer!  On Sunday, September 16th from 11am to 3pm, the German American Heritage Center will host the Brides on a Budget Affordable Bridal Fair where some of our amazing vendors are going to be available to show you what they can offer.  We have a little bit of everything that you would need to plan your wedding, and I know the vendors are planning on offering some amazing deals to brides and grooms who come to the event.

While you are at the fair, you should totally check out the location!  The German American Heritage Center offers a picturesque location for a smaller wedding.  The 4th floor Banquet Hall where the show will be located just might be the perfect location for you!  We will be taking a closer look at the banquet hall soon!

Questions you may have -

Where is the German American Heritage Center located? - It is in lovely downtown Davenport directly across from the entrance to the Centennial Bridge at 712 W. 2nd Street.  There is a ton of parking in a safe lot right behind the building.

What does it cost? - Drumroll, please... The admission is FREE!  Wahoo!

Which vendors will be there? - More info to come on this as we finalize the list of amazing vendors with amazing deals!

Who can I contact with more questions?  Click here to see the German American Heritage info page about the show, or you can call or email Kelly Lao - kelly.lao@gahc.org / 563-322-8844 ex. 111

A Look Back at the 2012 Davenport Jaycees Bridal Expo!

by Jenny Bryde 17. February 2012 15:08
A few weeks ago on January 28th, QCWeddings.com along with many brides, grooms, family members, and wedding parties attended the 2012 Davenport Jaycees Bridal Expo! As always, our favorite parts of the show besides mingling with all you good people is to see the vibrant display of décor and entertainment that our wedding vendors provide. Keeping up with current wedding trends is just one of the perks of our job! Here’s a picture recap taken by Taylor Freymann.

One Week Until the Davenport Jaycees Bridal Expo!

by Jenny Bryde 21. January 2012 15:11
It’s here, it’s here, it’s here! One week away lies one of the most important wedding related events that you will attend other than your wedding! The Davenport Jaycee’s Annual Bridal Expo is happening next Saturday from 9-4pm at the Davenport River Center. So mark your calendar, shine your shoes, and grab your best mates as you get ready to attend.

If you’ve been to a wedding show before then prepare to be amazed at the sheer size of this one. If you’ve never been to a wedding show before then buckle your seatbelts because it’s time to jump in with both feet! At the show you will find wedding vendors of ever type who are all dying to be a part of your big day. Photographers, florists, bakers, planners, musicians, travel companies, and more will be there to provide information, answer questions, and best of all, have fabulous give aways and prizes throughout the day! For example, if you visit the Jaycee’s booth, they are giving away an awesome photography package from Luxe Photography for 8 hours of service! Drool-worthy prize! And that’s just one!

Here’s my most important insider’s tip – Be sure to visit the QCWeddings.com booth FIRST before you go to any other booths. Why? Because we’ll have free information labels for you to use as you enter all the contest and sign up for info throughout your tour of the show. I can tell you that with nearly 100 booths to see, your hand will nearly cramp up and fall off if you try to hand write your info over and over again. So stop by and see us. We’ll hook you up! After you visit us, go nuts! Slap those info labels down wherever you heart desires!

Tickets for the show are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. You can purchase tickets in advance at any Quad City Area Hy-Vee. Again, this wedding show is the one to see, and it’s such a blast! What makes it even better is when you bring your entourage along to help you juggle all the freebies and info packets that you’ll receive! It’s a great way to get the moms and sisters and bridesmaids together, so give them a call and make your plans to visit the show!
