Now that we’ve announced our prize winners, I’d like to take a little time to talk about the Susan G. Komen Foundation here in the Quad Cities. They have been hit hard by our recent economic troubles. But due to YOUR ticket purchases at our annual show this year, we were able to raise $3215.00 for the cure! That’s almost $1400.00 more than we raised last year! And it’s all because of our brides and vendors making this year’s show a HUGE success! We couldn’t have done it without you guys! We’ll be giving the check to our local chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation shortly and we’ll have some snazzy pictures to show you too! Here is a sneak preview of the check!

I’d also like to take a moment to thank all of the people working behind the scenes with qcweddings.com to make this year’s show such a resounding success!

  • Donna: Thank you for putting up with us all (and for having the forethought to request a bar for the show)!
  • The Isle: Thanks for the great location and being so easy to work with. Your staff was excellent!
  • Event Management Unlimited: Patrick, you worked hard to make us shine. You and your crew were great!
  • Jenny and Gabriela: You guys put up with the hordes trying to crash down the door, thank you so much for your patience and your work.
  • Steve: Thanks for working your mojo and making the registration process much much easier than it would normally be.
  • VIP Transportation: Your offer to shuttle people was most gracious!
  • Clazzy Designs: We had awesome stuff for our table, thanks to you!
  • Master DJ: For announcing our prizes and being a swell guy!
  • MI Studios: For shooting the event and putting together a video (I can't wait to see this, they do awesome work!)
  • Bev and Dave: The show wouldn’t exist without you guys, thanks for everything!

I know there are more people I should be putting in here, but if I forgotten anyone then please, blame my terrible memory and write me an email to let me know so I can amend the error post haste. We’ll be sure to see you all at the show next year!

Holly and Aaron: Moments Captured In Time

by Tony 14. July 2009 11:17

On Friday morning the rain fell, leaving Holly with concern for her wedding day. As rehearsal time arrived the sky began to clear and the wedding party gathered at Trinity Episcopal Church to prepare for their special day.

After rehearsal the family went to the Rock Island Arsenal Club House. The lush setting of greenery provided a quaint setting for dinner and a time for family and friends to get to know each other better. The Poyneer family had been a familiar sight at the Golf Course, playing golf and sitting at the pool side over the years.

The wedding day came and everything was in place. The weather was beautiful as was the bride. Holly was eager to check out the floral arrangement for the altar and the beautiful arrangement made for the doors, along with her bouquets. Holly enjoyed the moment, along with the fragrance given off by all the flowers and the excitement of the day.

As the time drew closer, the preparations made great opportunities to capture the moments through the watchful eye of Brandenburg Photography, allowing Holly and Aaron to look back and enjoy a lifetime of memories.

After a beautiful ceremony in the sanctuary and beauty of the cathedral, Holly and Aaron, joined by their wedding party, were taken by limo to Vanderveer Park, adding to the memories with the great outdoor settings that the park offers.

The wedding ceremony continued in full swing with the reception at the Figge, where music was provided by Black Tie Entertainment and Tim with an elegant dinner setting. Holly examined the wedding cake, and prior to dinner the cake was cut.

After enjoying dinner, the couple met with friends and family to talk about their new home in Brazil, where the couple will reside for a couple years as Aaron will be working with John Deere. The night continued with first dances and fun amongst the wedding party, family and friends.

Jen and Joe: Japanese style and Italian flair

by Tony 28. April 2009 10:20

Joe and Jen were married April 25, 2009 and are away enjoying their honeymoon in Costa Rica. Jen's college soccer coach and his wife arranged for them to stay in their private residence while there as a wedding gift. While they are away basking in warm tropical weather we would like to share their great Quad Cities Wedding with you.

Jen shared with us, “Joe had moved to the Quad Cities from Michigan to attend grad school and I had just moved back to the area from Texas when we met online. After e-mailing back and forth and speaking on the phone for over a month we met for our first date. We talked for hours that first night and way into the morning. We have been virtually inseparable ever since.”

Joe and Jen come from two different ethnic backgrounds, and they incorporated details from each of their backgrounds into their wedding day. Joe's Italian background led them to choose the cannoli-flavored cake, an Italian phrase on the invitations, and a coffee-table book featuring Italian festivals and recipes as their guest book. Jen's family's Japanese crest was a focal point for the invitations. Consistent with Japanese tradition, they had 1000 origami cranes at the reception as a wish for a long and prosperous marriage.

When asked about future plans Jen told us, “We are planning on moving this summer. While the exact destination is still up in the air, we are looking forward to exploring a new location and creating a home together.”

Joe and Jen’s wedding vendors are listed below, and we have included Jen’s descriptions. Each vendor and each location was carefully interviewed and contracted to play a part in creating the couple’s vision for their wedding day.
