Sharing is Caring!

It's amazing how the signs of the times can be reflected in our social customs including weddings. Brides and grooms are now more than ever trying to watch their pennies as they tally up their wedding bills, and unfortunately a wedding is one of those major events in life where the bills are as numerous as the rsvps. In the light of hardship, however, we brides and grooms can get downright resourceful. A new trend has started to infiltrate the wedding scene, and I have to admit, it's a good one. Couple are starting to share resources between weddings!

Here are the stats as compiled by a massive survey done by David's Bridal on 2012 brides:

63% are sharing decorations. This would include things such as linens, servingware, centerpieces, pew bows, ribbons, lighting, candles...

50% are sharing clothing and accessorries. You could share gowns, bridesmaid dresses, suits, ties, boutonieres, bouquets, jewelry...

38% are sharing planning tools. Could you share a wedding planner?

Considering that the average wedding in the United States costs around $27,000, sharing with your fellow engage-ees could add up to some serious savings. I'm cringing right now thinking about how much we spent on decorations. If only we had considered sharing! Oh well...hindsight is 20/20, right?
