Wedding Resolutions

by Jenny Bryde 26. December 2014 01:47

Those of us getting married in 2015 have a lot on our plates, and it's easy to become caught up in the swirling dervish of a ride that planning a wedding becomes.  Today I'd like to challenge you to five New Years Wedding Resolutions that will help to keep your sanity, timeline, and budget on track.

#1 Thou shall not procrastinate.  How much time do you have left until your big day?  Do you have big projects or purchases that are getting the back burner treatment?  If so, it's time to take a close look at your remaining to-dos and set up a little schedule and time management.  Let your 2015 wedding not be rushed to be put together last minute.  Be proactive!

#2 Thou shall not bitch.  If you or your fiance have already had a lashing out or two on unsuspecting customer service representatives, it's time to pull it back.  Biting the hand that feeds you is no way to get what you want.  If you want a discount or an extra service done pro bono, then you'll have to suck it up and be a sweetheart.  Be nice!

#3 Thou shall not knit pick.  You've hired professionals for a reason.  Trust that the wedding vendors who you've contracted know what they are doing.  They are artisans and professionals, and they will take care of their customers.  If in the case a vendor makes a whoops, go with the flow.  It's not worth stressing over the small stuff that most likely will never be an issue.  Be trusting!

#4 Thou shall not starve yourself.  Be healthy, just don't be dangerous.  If you need to lose weight or get that wedding-ready body before a certain date, do so safely with gradual changes, no gimmicky drinks or potions, and a healthy balance of nutrition and activity choices.  Be good to yourself!

#5 Thou shall not lose sight.  The wedding really isn't about the wedding.  The wedding is the event where you marry the man or woman of your dreams.  The person with whom you'll spend all your other days with after the "big day".  So make sure that you spend time with your SO.  Remind yourself of why he or she is so amazing and worth all this crazy wedding trouble!  Be in love!
