Which Metal Gets the Medal?

Walking into a jeweler's recently, I noticed that there seemed to be a lot more choices when it came to picking out the material of wedding bands, namely the metal.  We are no longer limited to only golds, which are great, don't get me wrong.  But maybe gold isn't a great option for a person who is very hard on their jewelry due to a job or hobbies or lifestyle.  There are a number of options available, and they vary widely when it comes to physical properties, price, and aesthetics.  Let's take a closer look.

A great place to start is this chart published by Fred Meyer Jewelers.  It breaks down all the most commonly found metals in jewelry and gives you a snapshot of their traits.  Click here to go directly to their page where they provide even more detailed information about each metal.

Here is another graphic I found giving a visual for the hardnesses for each metal.

So think about your hands.  Think about your budget, lifestyle, and personal taste.  I hope the info in this article helps you to make the best choice!
