Joe and Jen were married April 25, 2009 and are away enjoying their honeymoon in Costa Rica. Jen's college soccer coach and his wife arranged for them to stay in their private residence while there as a wedding gift. While they are away basking in warm tropical weather we would like to share their great Quad Cities Wedding with you.
Jen shared with us, “Joe had moved to the Quad Cities from Michigan to attend grad school and I had just moved back to the area from Texas when we met online. After e-mailing back and forth and speaking on the phone for over a month we met for our first date. We talked for hours that first night and way into the morning. We have been virtually inseparable ever since.”
Joe and Jen come from two different ethnic backgrounds, and they incorporated details from each of their backgrounds into their wedding day. Joe's Italian background led them to choose the cannoli-flavored cake, an Italian phrase on the invitations, and a coffee-table book featuring Italian festivals and recipes as their guest book. Jen's family's Japanese crest was a focal point for the invitations. Consistent with Japanese tradition, they had 1000 origami cranes at the reception as a wish for a long and prosperous marriage.
When asked about future plans Jen told us, “We are planning on moving this summer. While the exact destination is still up in the air, we are looking forward to exploring a new location and creating a home together.”
Joe and Jen’s wedding vendors are listed below, and we have included Jen’s descriptions. Each vendor and each location was carefully interviewed and contracted to play a part in creating the couple’s vision for their wedding day.
